Se7en Film opening sequence

Today in our media lesson, we looked at the opening 5 minutes of the film, se7en. we studied the view of the film and the mice-en-scene. At first we see that the young and cocky detective who is played by Brad Pitt keep trying to push infront of Morgan Freeman who is and expierienced detective who is layed back, the character that Morgan plays is very relaxed and knows how to handle situations whereas cocky Bradd Pitt is very in your face so it shows a rwal contrast of two detectives. We also see little bits of the villain in the clip aswell. The villain seems very organised and everything has a place which shows he obviously does not want to get caught, he also seems to be a very religious person because he cut out the word GOD which was on a one dollar bill.
The lighting whic is shown is very natural but in some parts also gloomy because a man has just died so that backs up that effect, there are alot of props used like the thing when Morgan is laying in bed (i forgot what its called!) that was ticking in rythm and rythm is a big part of Morgans character so it shows he likes things to be done in a certain way, The opening sequence was very interesting because it contrasts alot of different characters and we learn a hell of alot about these characters in a 5 minute clip.
