Kidulthood

Kidulthood is a British independant film made by Menhaj Huda, he put his own money intyo making the film, Kidulthood (rendered as KiDULTHOOD) is a 2006 British drama film about the life of several teenagers in Ladbroke Grove and Latimer Road area of Inner West London. It was directed by Menhaj Huda and written by Noel Clarke, who also stars in the film and directed the sequel, Adulthood.

Critical reaction
Writing in The Guardian, Miranda Sawyer called the film "a rollicking UK youth ride, cinematically filmed, persuasively acted and bumped along by a fantastic all-British soundtrack... It's also very funny, laced with a humour of the slapped-in-the-face-with-a-kipper sort: you can't help laughing because it's so outrageous". Stephen Armstrong in The Times, however, said "the only people who should be shocked by this film are people who have never been teenagers. What Kidulthood does is take all the violence, sex and intoxication experienced in a teenage year and condense it into a single day, because that's far more marketable than a film about eight kids spending four hours sitting on the swings wondering what to do". The Daily Mirror described it as being "as potent as a shot of vodka before breakfast - a harrowing, uncompromisingly bleak but thoughtful look at the anguish of being young and poor in Britain".[

Lesson Review

Today in our film lesson, we watched everyone in the classes opening title sequence, personally this did help us out quite a bit for my group because we knew that we was far behind everyone else! But we showed the class what we had any and Mrs.Moore told us that we needed a lot of work done to it, so now we realised what we needed to do. Some of the other groups we watched were very good, I was particularly impressed with the sequence scrooge and also beuty and the geek, I liked beauty and the geek because of the music that it had, but todays lesson was a good exercise and my group now have realised we need to work hard as a team to get the best out of our sequence 'The Decline',

Se7en Film opening sequence

Today in our media lesson, we looked at the opening 5 minutes of the film, se7en. we studied the view of the film and the mice-en-scene. At first we see that the young and cocky detective who is played by Brad Pitt keep trying to push infront of Morgan Freeman who is and expierienced detective who is layed back, the character that Morgan plays is very relaxed and knows how to handle situations whereas cocky Bradd Pitt is very in your face so it shows a rwal contrast of two detectives. We also see little bits of the villain in the clip aswell. The villain seems very organised and everything has a place which shows he obviously does not want to get caught, he also seems to be a very religious person because he cut out the word GOD which was on a one dollar bill.
The lighting whic is shown is very natural but in some parts also gloomy because a man has just died so that backs up that effect, there are alot of props used like the thing when Morgan is laying in bed (i forgot what its called!) that was ticking in rythm and rythm is a big part of Morgans character so it shows he likes things to be done in a certain way, The opening sequence was very interesting because it contrasts alot of different characters and we learn a hell of alot about these characters in a 5 minute clip.
